Hi can anyone tell me if my ts-870s S/N is from an early or late production run. The S/N is 71200190. Thanks Tom

For Kenwoods, the year of manufacture is the first digit of the serial number minus two.  In you case: 7 - 2 = 5 or 1995.  The next two digits are the month, 12 = December.  Your rig is the first year of manufacture.  It is confusing since a serial on an 870 that starts with 6 is 2004, much later than one starting with 7.  It helps if you have a general idea of when a series of radios was built.  For instance a TS-850 with a first digit of 8 would be 1996 not 2006 or 1986.  Hope this helps.
