Hi. I'm a newly minted tech and will be in Chicago this weekend to visit family. I would like to visit any Chicago ham stores during my trip and would welcome suggestions where to shop.

Thanks

I live near South Bend,IN (near Notre Dame University). We have exactly one store that mainly sells CB equipment with some occasional used ham gear. I would have expected several retail stores in a major metro area like Chicago.

AES ( http://www.aesham.com/ ) has a store on the North side of Milwaukee -- but that's a fair drive, say 2 hrs, up I-94 from Chicago.

Wally,
I've lived in Chicago all my life, and we have lost all of the local ham radio suppliers.  We used to have whole rows of them off the downtown area, just after WWII and after the Korean War.  Now we have to buy from out of state retailers.  I have used Amateur Electronic Supply (in Milwaukee) and The Ham Station (in Evansville, IN) among others.  If we need a simple coax connector in the Chicago area, it is a treasure hunt. . .
