This may not be a new idea. I was looking at live police scanners online and found that N2JEU has an HF receiver setup you can access online, with streaming audio back to your computer. He has a control setup in which you can enter the freq and mode into an IC-R75, and receive whatever HF signals thru your computer speakers. For fun, I tuned it on Midcars around noon. Sounded good so I turned on my HF and noted there was a long delay in the streaming computer audio and the live rx. Got an idea to check into Midcars and use it to check my own audio from a distant point, without having to make a signal report request or anything. So I did it, and was able to listen to myself between Ohio and the Icom rx in NY state. Checked signal strength and audio. The delay online is quite long enough to eliminate any confusing echo effects and was quite useful. His website is at www.ralabs.com/webradio/ and he requests you keep your usage to 15 min max at a time. Can be useful for US hams to ck sigs, especially eastern half.

Well it is kinda nice to be able to hear yourself from several hundred miles away versus a local shack receiver. I don't have a second rig hooked up to listen on(I could), which requires headphones to prevent feedback and you have to try to prevent overload, etc. Some people play back recordings to let others hear themselves but then it is going back thru their system so you also get to hear what their rig sounds like in the process, etc. Just another use for his setup besides SWLing or such. Plus he has time limits so you are kinda limited in general SWLing with his setup.
