In 1950 there was a station with the call sign WID26.

Is there a source that would identify this station - location, purpose, etc.?

I would think it was a commercial broadcast link, possibly in the NE part of the country.

That's just a hunch.

I dunno whether FCC kept records that far back or not, but you could search on their commercial call site.
