Hi all,

this is my first post so please bare with me...

I'm an EMT in NYC. Our own EMS communication and issued radios are great but they do fail. Also instead of running with two radios (base and ems) I would like to have one only if I'm running up and down the stairs. I came accross a fireman during a rescue job who had a vx-5r and they used it as a small backup/monitoring unit. I asked around and everyone liked this particular model so I ended getting one. The reception that he was getting is nowhere near what I have. I really don't know much about radios or frequncies. Is there anything that needs to get done to my radio? Would anyone know if there is a local club in NYC/Brooklyn area that would be able to show me some stuff when it comes to this radio?

Thank you very much in advance for you answers...

Matt
