Does anyone have any recent reviews?
I was thinking of buying one.  I have his
originally version but I am wondering
if the 160m version might have reduced
performance if he had to increase the turns
per inch on the coil.

It's all a manner of Q. 160 meters mobile, regardless of what antenna you use, is difficult at best. Efficiencies in the neighborhood of 1% or less are the norm, with 2% or 3% possible using large coils and huge tophats. It's not a mobile band for causual operators.
