I have my new At 180 with my IC 706MK2G, but with this automatic turner I see one problem...
It matches as close to 1 to 1 as possible, but after a minute or two of transmitting the tuner begins to unlock and go into bypass mode. I change to my old manual turner and all is ok, I change again with the AT 180 and it still does this.

If I press the tune button again on the 706's, the AT-180 will again match down to almost 1 to 1 and after a minute of transmitting it will again unlock.

What can I do?

Are you using this mobile? The AT180 was designed to match loads up to about 6:1 or so. If you're using it mobile this is okay, but not for cross banding (using a 20 meter antenna on 40 say). You might want to start looking for a bad coax connection.

To my knowledge, the AT-180 is the equiavalent of the auto-tuner used in such units as the Icom-746 and their equivalants. That being the case, it can correct slightly above a 3:1 SWR, and no further.

P.S. After that, it will shut down.
