VE7JJD and VE7SCC Coquitlam Amateur Radio Emergency Services Club are planning a Cruise Ship DX-Pedition on the Holland America ms. Amsterdam SEP 26 2004, Seattle-Astoria-Victoria-Vancouver-Seattle. With the equipment and luggage being off loaded in VANC, to allow the the participants to enjoy the last nite revelry and return to VANC unemcumbered by equipment and/or luggage.

My question is, what is a good, relatively simple, long wire and auto tuner design that will minimize "stray currents" and RFI in shipboard electonics?

We will be operating at 100 watts, an Icom HF- 730 and also QRP 20/40 meters.

DX-pedition!? It's a 180 miles by road from Seattle to Astoria, less than half of that by air miles, toss in another 30 miles from Victoria. What kind of expidition is that? Did you mean Astoria New York?

I was kind of wondering about that, too.

A DX-pedition that doesn't leave W7 and VE7 and probably only gets out to international water to open the casino for a few hours isn't really a DX-pedition.

But sounds like fun, anyway, so have a good time!  Assume you already have permission to operate...?

Don't get too sunburned on the sports deck.
