Icom IC - V8000 receive audio cuts out

If you are experiencing receive audio cut offs and chopping of words during a QSO about every 5 seconds on the Icom Ic -v8000, simply get into the set mode and turn the Weather alert function off!
This should stop the problem.
This taken from the Icom manual:

NOTE: While receiving a signal (on a frequency other than the weather alert ON frequency), the receiving signal or audio will be interrupted momentarily every 5 sec. (approx.)in case the alert function is turned ON. This symptom is caused by the WX alert function. To cancel these symptoms,
set the weather alert item OFF in set mode.

This just points out one of the drawbacks to having an alert function. I haven't met anyone yet, who hasn't turned it off after experiences like yours. Weather radios are cheap, and most run on 12 V. Seems to me it's a better deal all around.
