I saw that the W4RRY unit is no longer available.

Any ideas as to a suitable replacement?

It IS available again.  New price is $120 shipped.  Go to http://members.cox.net/w4rry/index.html.

www.powerstream.com/

A whole product line, and while you're not patronizing a single ham, you are dealing with a whole company.

WOW!  The Powerstream 600Watt converter goes for $3600!  WAY too rich for my blood!

The $3600 power supplies, including the water cooled one, are NOT what we are talking about here.

You need to look at what PowerStream calls a "12v to 12v" converter to see the comparable models, starting under $110.00.

Big little difference there.<G> Somewhat larger and more complicated product lineup, huh?

Well I ended up ordering the powerstream converter.

It arrives Monday.  I'll see how it goes.

I tried it out in the shack. Hash galore on 20 and 40.  Looks like I'll be returning it and getting the W4RRY unit.

btw check out my review of the powerstream DU700 product.

It is so bad it even wipes out the AM broadcast band!

I have a few inverters and SMPSes here but nothing compares to this unit.  I wonder if it even complies with FCC part 15 rules?
