What do you guys think about windshield mounts for control heads, like they use for portable GPS units.

Pros? Cons?

One of the problems is not whether they'll hold securely, but one of safety.

SRS devices (air bags) cover almost all of the dash surface when they expand. Anything is their way, including the front glass, can be broken and torn asunder. Not something you want to have run into your favorite radio.

I don't think much of them - or GPS windshield mounts, either.

They WILL come loose in a crash and become flying objects. The ones that use a suction cup are the worst. Besides, most of the time they are too far away to be convenient to reach the controls.

A smoking section in a restaurant makes as much sense as a peeing section in a swimming pool.
