16.500 Mhz appears on the FT 857 D ?

I was surprised "stepping though the bands" that between 20 and 17 meters 16.500 MHz appears on the remote display. It is not any amateur frequency

Yaesu tech supports explained that the only way I can delete that frequency display is resetting the CPU.

That means putting frequencies and setting up repeaters again. I'd also have to change any options that were not default selected.

No one can explain how the unwanted frequency got in the up/down band select. I decided to live with the problem as rebooting the CPU will require a lot of time to re-program the FT 857D.

Easy to fix.  Yaesu tech support isn't very creative, apparently.

There is one band in the radio that is a "floater". I think it's general coverage. Whatever frequency it's tuned to will appear between the nearest bands.  Currently you've got 160, 80, 60, 40, 30, 20, floater, 17, 15, 12, 10, 6, 2, 432 in your radio right now.

Just step to the "band" that's showing 16.500 MHz and put it where you want it.  I just tried it, tuned it down to 500kHz and it stayed there.  Now it's in the sequence between 432 and 160m (which I think might be the default place for it)

As to how the floater got on 16.500 ... dunno.
