This may have been discussed before. Where to drill hole in roof of 2008 GMC Canyon Crew Cab and where to route cable to floor? Thanks. Jerry W4JX.

Read the threads on installations in Suburbans and Tahoes.

Basically, pull the dome light, drill a 3/4" hole for a _US_MADE_ NMO mount, thread the coax to the side pillar and run it down the pillar to the floor.

See also www.k0bg.com.

On my 2004 Colorado extended cab I put the NMO mount on the roof just ahead of the cargo light. Routed the coax down the back pillar on the drivers side. Did not encounter any problems.

Thanks for the info Lon and Steve.
Steve: Where did you run the power cable to the battery? Thru the firewall? Is there a plugged opening available? Or did you drill a hole?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry, yes I drilled a hole in the firewall directly in front of the brake pedal area. You will see a rubber boot in that area that carries the control wires for the throttle pedal (fly by wire). I drilled just under it and used a grommet. BTW if you ever get on HF mobile this truck is VERY quiet.
