I heard that it's possible to get a cable and connect it to the faceplate of the 208h and use it remotely. I checked into this and found that there's a cable called the OPC 589 or 600/601 that can be purchased for about $60. Are there any less expensive alternatives?

When I bought my 208H (a year ago) the cable was included.

Sorry, no cheaper alternatives.

Icom includes the remote head seperation cable with the radio...if you purchased it used, then you might never have gotten it...

If you think the cable is expensive, you ought to see what they charge for thier mic extension cable...must be gold plated, or something...
