Given a choice between the Alinco 135T/Icom2100h/Yeasu1802m, all at the same price point, which would be the better choice?

Looking for a 2meter mobile for use in my Jeep.

TIA,

Merrill

The answer is always the same. Buy the one that suits you, not someone else.

Think the IC 2100H has been superseded by the 2200H and would suggest the Yaesu FT-2800 is perhaps closest to it, the FT-1802 is a little more compact, w/ slightly less heatsinking than the 2200H & FT-2800 but 50W high vs 65W(?) so it probably even's out thermally and is a trivial difference in output.

It may come down to space available to mount it. Also the Mic's are a little different shape, may may feel more comfortable. I'd say it's a tossup between the Icoms and Yaesus, I've not used any of the Alincos so can not comment for or against.

For me, the 1802 out of those three mentioned.

I've been happy with yaesu FM gear, would not buy any icom FM gear, but if I got the alinco I would then have to buy the 222 and 440 versions to have a matched set...haha

If you ever think you'll talk a lot, the 2800 has a huge heatsink with a little radio attached to the front.
