I've been active again on HF from the car for the first time in a handful of years.  The propagation is lousy, no doubt, but it's still FUN.  There are big pileups for what used to be "ordinary" DX, with propagation down.  Getting a QSO through a big pileup, in the car, is still fun, even if it's for YU or ON or somewhere that wouldn't be a big deal from home, with home power and antennas and decent sunspots.  :-)

Yesterday I spent nearly my whole 45-minute drive home working on an SP, who had a huge pileup on 20m.  It was still WAY more fun than listening to the news on a broadcast station would have been.  :-)

For a variety of reasons, I'm on the air from my mobile (almost) everyday, and I'm retired! I don't usually "hunt" DX, but if it is there, I usually work it. Since you're on the east coast, you might listen for the 9B2 that's been on the last several days. I've heard him, but for the most part he's been down in the mud from here (SW).

9B would be an all-time new one for me, not just a mobile new one!  :-)  And I had to look up the prefix, never having worked one.

Your hint about the 9B2 makes me think I probably ought to take a look at the cluster before I leave work in the afternoon--that would give me an idea of who's on the band before I'm actually in the car.  Usually I just listen to see who's on who sounds strong enough that I've got a chance at working him from the car. But checking the cluster might help.  And now I know there's a 9B2 to listen for, too. :-)   THANKS, Alan!
