I just broke the SMA antenna connector on my Kenwood H/T.  The SMA style connector isn't very durable on a portable.  I'd like to install a female BNC connnector in its place.  If anyone's done this mod, I'd like to know the part brand/number and any special tips.  Thanks.

I doubt it can be done, physically.

However, since you need to repair the little rig anyway, why not just install a stainless steel (and extremely strong) SMA female connector?  The SS version of SMA has the same dimensions, and is electrically the same as the original brass SMA but has about ten times the strength.  It won't break.
