I'm sure there are some using the 718. Many use Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) for rig control and Skype for VOIP. Check out the HRD support forum at http://forums.ham-radio.ch
. You can download Ham Radio Deluxe at http://www.ham-radio-deluxe.com/Downloads/tabid/54/Default.aspx
Regarding antenna switching, etc, I had some old dow-key 110v relays laying around and use them to switch antennas between a Yaesu FT1000MP and an Icom 746 Pro. I use the Yaesu when I'm operating locally and the Icom when I'm operating the station remotely. I'm sure there are more elegant ways of switching antennas but I used what I had on hand.
I use a web power switch (http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpc.html
) to turn power off to the various 110v equipment. This is a web-based power controller that allows you to remotely control the 8 AC outlets contained in the unit. I have the 746 plugged into one of the AC outlets and the dow-key relays pluged into some of the others, allowing me to turn the rig on/off and switch antennas around as necessary.
