I would like to know what the difference is between these 2 rigs. They both a HF/6m /2m 100 watts all mode. I would like to get the 746 pro so I could use my 706mkIIg mobile.

Can't  provide detailed comparative information on the two rigs.  However, I've been using a 746Pro for the past year and it works great.  Yes, some did have problems with the transmitter but I've not.  Very good selectivity and QRM elimination abilities.  For the money it's a great rig. I've used it HF and 6 meters, works fine. If you can find a 756 Pro II or FT1000 that might even be better (but no vhf).

The 746Pro is the successor to the now unavailable 746.  It has many enhancements over the earlier radio and in many ways is more similar to the 756Pro than the 746.
