I hope this isnt the wrong forum, but thanks for reading anyway......

A couple months ago I downloaded a lot of ham software attempting to upgrade my stations digital abilities. Since then I'm running on PSK31 and RTYY, all is good.

I downloaded Spectran V2. Can I use it for tighter band pass fitering on SSB if I route audio from my rig, to laptop via audio/mic inputs, through the onboard sound card, then out thru a set of speakers? To be used for times like in a contest to pick out weak SSB signals with lots of crowding splatter from adjacent sations, or QRN?

Maybe Spectran is overkill for this application? Is there something more simple & suitable?  I have a couple of high speed  XP laptops in the shack so CPU demands are not an issue.
