I'm kind of surprised that this thread is still hot and cooking!  I guess Martyn has done a lot more harm to a lot more people than was even thought possible.

The best way to avoid scammers and rip off artists like Martyn is simple--research them!  Google their callsigns.  Google their businesses.  You'll find that there is a lot of information available since adverse information is always picked up on and posted more than any other kind of info.

If you get too many hits on them for bad business practices or adverse reports, AVOID doing business with them at all!

Yeah, that's a good method.

I just plain refuse to buy used gear unless
it is being sold locally and I can out my hands on
it, and do my own tests. Look the seller in the eye,
ask pointed questions, sees if he hems, haws or
prevaricates. "You told me you were the only owner,
but you don't have the receipt, manual, or original
boxes for a rig you supposedly bought a year ago?" Grin

But then I don't buy much used gear, live in an urban
area, nor look for esoteric gear that is hard to find.
Yet. Grin
Next year I will be restoring a 1937 Philco floor
console radio, Model 37-650.

I just received this in my email today from Martyn / radio-mart and thought I would share it with everyone.

Hi there Darryl,

Happy Christmas to you and yours J

Got a good sized file on you for what your trying to do behind my back tut tut tut darryl.

Remember this, you are in the miserable minority, some would call nosey shit stirrers?  But I have a LOT of friends hence my file on you.

Don’t you get it?  Over 25,500 positive feedbacks on eBay with 2 accounts, over 6,000 sales this year on my own web site, do you hear any one screaming I ripped them off, no and the 3 or 4 who claim that are just like you, full of it.

Now Daryl my man, go and get yourself a life spend some time on the air rather than in front of the PC, just saying.

Now keep up your BS and let’s see where this ends up

Later young man…

Martyn, I hate to mention this here in front of everyone but dude, you REALLY need to learn how to SPELL.

Did "TS944" put you up to this ?

Darryl: Would this be a Federal crime... you know across state lines? Does the Post Office handle this or is it FBI? Just saying....  Grin By the way HNY!

Sounds like a threatening letter doesn't it ?

I don't need to "keep a file" on Martyn Allison, I have Google.

Martyn Allison / Radio-Mart wants to be seen as a professional business but this letter he sent me shows the real Martyn shining through.

Interesting, the master of the scam expects us to believe he
has sold 6,000 items on his personal website?

I hope he sells his aviation gear better then he did  his ham gear,
otherwise the FAA will be upset with him.

Looks like he has admitted to having two ebay accounts after all.

I would contact a Lawyer with this info, in the context of this whole thread I think you have a case, at the very least the complaint will be logged with the Police and a record available for presentation to eBay in case he should ever manage to get back in.

I have a better idea. I will just send copies of this letter he sent me to Heil Sound, LDG Electronics and ask them, Is this the kind of unprofessional guy you want as one of your dealers and representing your products ?
( Please feel free to let Heil Sound and LDG electronics know your opinions about this as well )

This just plain takes the cake.......

Martyn / radio-mart has just posted a "guide" of how not to get ripped off when buying on ebay / the internet.

It just goes to show that the pot can call the kettle black.  Or maybe a better responce is "It takes one to know one!"

I have had five dealings with Martyn over the past 5 years, 4 purchases and one selling to him.  I have had zero problems.  He was up front honest and took care of anything that came up, which one did with my first dealings 5 years ago and he quickly rectified it.   Matter of fact, I have something in the works now with him and I'm sure based on my history with him, it will be fine.

I'm not sure how or why some people are having issues and I'm not going to pass judgment.  All I will say is he has been an honest person with me.  That's why I go back to him.  I think people just need to stop all the bickering and move on.  Stop beating a dead horse.
