HELLO ALL!

My names Jo WØANT.

I’ve been hamming for almost 20 wonderful years now !

I recently had to move into a neighborhood where I cannot
have any type of communications antenna outside my house...

I was forced to install an attic antenna. It’s a long way from the
8 element monoband 20m yagi I have always wanted.. HIHI..

Shortly after being very unhappy about my antenna restrictions...
I found a software program called (( ILINK ))...

It has enabled me to again talk to hams...JUST !!!
licensed hams...all over the Internet...

So I decided I was going to promote this IDEA!...
With a website I have designed.. just for ILINK!

((( http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/alink )))

Here’s my question... You can tell I am a Ham ...
IT takes for ever to get to a point! LOL

Anyway I wondered what the average ham thinks
of THIS (((ILINK STUFF))) is it a new mode…

Is it a threat or our salvation from the Internet taking away
all our new hams!

REGARDS
JO

ILink is wonderful if you like internet chat rooms. It is not "radio". Not being able to have an outside antenna has not kept all hams off the air. Is it a threat? I don't think so. The computer junkies will jump all over it. I have actually heard hams brag how they talked to Europe and Africa on 2 meters. Too bad it was not by "radio", a real accomplishment. I wish 2 meter SSB was that good. Personally I enjoy the challange of VHF / UHF DX. For those who enjoy chat rooms, have a great time. I will be here if you want to call over the "airwaves".

Jo, download the Echolink software. It is an upgrade of the ilINK and has many more hams there too. Enjoy it and don't worry about it hurting the ham bands. It isn't. They are different and serve different purposes. The end result is, it allows for many to experience or continue to experience ham radio when they otherwise could not. HAve fun and be ready to meet many other like minded individuals who are looking forward to having fun too.
