Hello,

The handheld FT530 and FT51 can be connected to a remote microphone MH29. So that it is possible to remote the FT530 by computer with the appropriate interface and serial protocol.

DOES ANYONE know if any software can control the yaesu FT530, or which protocol is used (signals properties, bitrate, wiring, allowed command, etc, ...)

The ideal would be some information about the protocol.
My final aim is to developp my own application.
If somebody is also interested in this project(only for the yaesu FT530), please contact me, we could work together.

there are several projects that hook up to a ft530 and several other rigs look up a project called "ham-com" in qrz.com

There is some usenet discussion (via google)
from 1995 on this topic.  The data rate is 9600
bps, as I recall.

A friend of mine reverse engineered the display
protocol... but not the other direction (as far as
the buttons).

Thanks for your last messages.

I suceeded in reverse engineering the mh29ab protocol.
I programmed a software(hp vee) which can clone the ft530 screen. However, i still got problem to send commands to the ft530.

I deduce that the mh29AB send an acknowledge signal to the ft530 . When the ft530 does not receive the ack signal, it stops sending data.

Now the matter is to synthetize this ack signal thanks to the computer and send it to the ft530. The problem is that the communication is on one wire (bidirectionnal).

At this time, I have forgiven the project, but i would be happy to restart it if somebody bring me new informations.
