Many of the lower-end desktop PCs currently marketed by Dell, Gateway, etc., feature "integrated audio" systems.  The manufacturers tell me this means the soundcard function is constructed as an integrated part of the motherboard rather as than a standalone add-on card, like a Soundblaster.

My question is: are these "integrated audio" systems "Soundblaster-capatible" and do they work with amateur radio soundcard digital mode software?

I have an on-board AC-97 sound system - works fine, never anyone suggesting otherwise.
