We have some LID-like answers here.

A poor operator is called a LID. The origin of the word LID has been obscured by time but the most popular theory is that it came from railroad morse operators.

X7G,

Charlie Baker knows what a lid is. CB is probably a very experienced ham.

He likes to see how people answer his humorous posts.

It takes a sober actor to play a drunk, and an intelligent actor to play a fool.

Whoever Charlie Baker is, he knows how to evoke a reaction with his writing.

END, I've know this since his first post. But for the benefit of those of you who are falsifying the etymology of the term LID I have answered the question.

X7G, I think everyone is just having some facetious laughs about the term "lid."

I didn't think anyone was taking it that seriously.

I'll be sure to include a disclaimer on future ambiguities.
