Is there anyone out there that has written your own CAT software.

I'm interested in writing control software for the Yaesu FT-920 HF rig.  I can send commands to the radio with no problem but haven't been able to display information FROM the radio to the computer.

I use MS Visual Basic 6.0 and MS Visual Basic Express 2005 which is free from Microsoft.

I'm not a professional programmer and am retired so this is something fun for me do!

Thanks,

Bruce

Thanks for the input.  Doesn't look like the site you mentioned sends the source code (which is the actual computer code used to generate the program itself.)  I need the actual code itself so I can add it to the program I have already written.  Then I'll be able to display the frequency and other outputs for the FT-920 on the computer screen.

Thanks for you input.  I do appreaciate it!

hi bruce,

ok I understand, looks like your half way there,
page 88 in the manual has the formats for the
download command and the data that is sent.

I am the author of Commander, which supports all PC-controllable HF Yaesu transceivers including the FT-920.

Are you using the MSCOMM control for access to a serial port, or another mechanism?

When you send the FT-920 a command directing it to return data, do you see incoming characters?

If you are using MSCOMM, it can be tricky.

Use hyperterminal to be sure you can send/receive data.

Once that is verified, look at your code.  I use the method of receiving one character of a time with InputLen set to one, and RThreshold to 1.

Also look at handshaking, I wasn't able to receive data until my handshaking was set correctly.

Can you post your code for MSComm_OnComm subroutine?
