Adobe Flash crashes Firefox in Linux

I cannot enable Flash in Firefox 3.5.1 (in Fedora 11), as any page containing Flash content crashes Firefox.

Anyone else have this problem?

I am using the very latest versions of Firefox and Flash.

Adobe Flash Player is the #1 cause of Firefox crashes.

I see that's another topic on this subject that's been closed. But NOT solved!


Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated!

I run Ubuntu 9.04 and FireFox runs A-ok for me.  I still have a system with Fedora 11, but I don't browse the net with it (it's a server).

Have you ran the update manager?

also try: yum update

Yes, I sure have updated Flash to the latest version.

Ok, I was able to fix this, finally.

I had downloaded the .tar.gz file and had been running Firefox from my home directory. However, when I performed a sudo yum install firefox, and then ran firefox from the resulting gnome menu entry (instead of the shell script in /home/mike/firefox), no crash!

I'm kind of new to Fedora. In Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, I was never able to install firefox with either apt-get or Synaptic. Therefore, I didn't think at first to try installing it using yum.

What a relief this is. I just love FF 3.5.1, and it's even better now.
