I've only been licensed since December and I've pretty much given up on 2 meters, 70 cm, etc.
I've spent almost all of my time on HF. I had a couple hundred contacts on 10 meters by February using not only SSB but PSK, Olivia, and later CW. I upgraded to General at the end of February and I have just over 500 contacts in my log now on almost every HF band (working on an antenna for 160 meters and something that works reasonably well on 60 meters) i.e. I have contacts on 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 30, 40, and 80 meters including contacts with HK0NA, PJ7PT, PZ5RO, and a bunch of other DXPeditions.
I've had a ton of fun because I did it using an antenna that shouldn't work but does:

It is what you make of it - if you aren't finding the local scene to your liking. expand a little

And don't ba afraid to upgrade to General! I haven't regretted it for even a second!
