Author Topic: Example exchange in CQ-CW-WW-DX contest?  (Read 1885 times)

What is an example of a complete exchange between amateurs in the CQ-CW-WW-DX contest? The rules only mention the number portion of the exchange i.e. "57905."

There must be more than that however? For instance callsign, power level, log #, time, etc?

Thanks for your help.

Sorry this is late..

The exchange is just that: RST followed by CQ zone (as opposed to IARU zone).  So for east coast US/VE it's 59905 (or any of its variants).

See www.cqww.com for rules and such.

Some contests have long exchanges, some short. CQWW's is about as short as it gets.  Just by copying the callsign correctly, one generally already knows the exchange!

Hi Bob

If I am running and you call me, the complete QSO would be something like:

[ZS1AN] ZS1AN TEST
[AB0SQ] AB0SQ
[ZS1AN] AB0SQ 5NN38
[AB0SQ] 5NN5
[ZS1AN] TU ZS1AN TEST

So the formal exchange is just the RST and CQ zone, but callsigns will be exchanged during the QSO. Power level and serial number are not required; you just submit your power level with your entry to the contest committee.

See the contesting FAQ on my website www.qsl.net/zs1an
