I have a Yaesu FT-2600 and need a replacement mic.  The stock mic is MH-36B6J, but do not know what model to replace it with.  Suggestions?

Why not the stock one?  I'm sure any Yaesu dealer could order it for you.  Or, fix the one you have.  Most are repairable to some extent.

Here is a link on an adapter cable which will allow you to utilize one of the Yaesu 8-pin round connectorized microphones with the FT-2600:  http://highfields-arc.6te.net/constructors/other/ct692.htm

or you can buy a new OEM microphone here:

Thanks for the link!  I will get on that one.  The original was discontinued, and mine is all pulled apart at the connectors.

Yes, I had the same problem.  I think you'll actually find the OEM unit to actually be a little more rugged.

I sure wish that Yaesu hadn't done away with the DB9 packet connectors on the back of their 2-meter radios -- I still have several FT-2600 transceivers operating as APRS and Winlink systems and when they're "gone", the replacements will be Alincos if nothing changes.

Are you aware that mic cable separation is a COMMON problem on certain Yaesu rigs (FT2600, FT2800, and FT100D from MY personal experience)?  I have several of these rigs and every mic cable came apart.  I was able to get new after market (better quality) mic cables for around $20 which are very easy to install (5 minutes).  These mic cables are offered on ebay and various other internet sites.
