Well, they didn't sell, yet... this seems to be the newest game in town. Put an outrageous BIN on a radio, with a make offer, and play the suckers for the highest price. And maybe some guppy will take the full price bait.

I'd check the sold prices for the same radio to get a better feel for worth.

Yep, like the ole saying goes, "There's a sucker born every minute!"

Note the sellers comments:

"This set up has not been tested by me as I am not a ham operator and do not know how to operate the equipment."

Then asking questions about the TR7 functionality is a waste of time.

"I plugged the units in and powered them on and they both seem to work fine.

It powers up so that says the TR7 is working "fine"? While both TR7s look good, looks can be deceiving!

"I did not have a mike or speaker to test further...."

The TR-7 has a built-in speaker.

And the transmitter can be tested, at least for output power, without a mike.

I wouldn't touch either of these "as is" rigs unless it was for a very low price.

The TR7 ps7 has been on Ebay for at least a month or two.
It amazes me how these clowns that dont have a clue about ham gear set the prices so high. I think its an ego thing.

The phrase "I turned it on and heard static but i didnt test further." means its junk and probably will not work.

This should be a no brainer.  Not tested and selling for a over inflated price.  These idiots should at least invest in a shop or ham to test these out.  Whats even more crazy some poor sob will probably fall for this line.

I emailed the guy asking him WHY he has it selling for such a high price? He reply was snide and condescending saying he was "tired of us cheapa$$ hams trying to beat him up on his price".  He also said that the Drake setup was "Worth every penny!" Cheesy Cheesy

If you check these guys that claim not to be hams usually have sold a ton of gear and they use this come-on to try and get you to buy their junk.  I would wager that 80% know that the radio does not work or has major issues when they use the claim: "Could not test it as I am not a ham".

Yep! and so the song goes! "I hooked up a wire to the back of it and tested it", "estate Sale", "Im not a ham and dont know how to use it" "its been sitting in my closet for 20 years, it worked when I put it there", On and On..When I buy a rig from ebay, I ask if the seller will give me a 30 day warranty, if not-bye-bye..

Speaking of, I see that the one and only "Radio-Mart," who is a frequent seller of Drakes on eBay, is now also selling under the name of "Ilove2cell."  When I see his new auctions, Ilove2run.  There's another Drake seller, jaguar-dog-2008 who also seems to be ddis1lrgd.  These guys seem to have several eBay seller IDs, and often seem to sell the same radios over and over.  Hmmmm.  Perhaps they just have really bad luck--e.g., buyers who don't pay.  It has to be that--as we know that eBay policy forbids shill bidding.  Caveat emptor.  73, Tony N3WAK

At least it is very clean and looks to be in top condition. Smiley
