Yesterday I found the official website of JHS #33 of NYC.  Didn't see anything on it about a student ham-radio club, though it was a pretty feeble attempt at a website, very little of interest IMO.  But I used the "contact us" page to ask if they had a student ham-radio club and if John Fairclough was associated with it.   Haven't heard anything from them yet.

And you probably won't!

You would think after all these years the site would change. Like having a page showing all the wonderful childrens lives he's changed with all those donations or at least a list of schools they went to. Yeah right!

Personally, I have donated, helped pay for equipment for disabled or down on their luck new ops, and to me, that is much more rewarding to tell someone, "you're welcome".  I never did understand JKJ's operation from a school, supposedly trying to help kids get exposed to amateur radio, yet making big bucks off folks along with selling copyrighted manuals, and doubtful he is paying taxes on any of it.

But, hopefully, something will change someday to thwart this kind of activity...

I won't hold my breath.... Huh

I have done the same as you even sending equipment as far as Puerto Rico and was happy to do so.

Smart man not holding your breath cause you would turn blue purple!

Really best thing to do is put the word out so no one else gets ripped off.

Looks to me like WB2JKJ has a large advertisement in this month's QST.

I see his ads in every issue of both CQ and QST, constantly. Its pretty sad they let him place ads, if he's actually reselling the donated radios.

I agree but guess that's what money and greed does. I hate to say!

Good thing is how we realize it and can communicate about it world better than in the past. Thanks to the World Wide Web!

Here is a link their online newsletter "Apple Slices".
http://www.n4gvk.net/appleslices/

It's a very strange hodgepodge of disjointed, meandering blather
about life in NYC, club member's birthdays, photos of member's shacks,
shameless plugs for the ham manual sales, etc.etc. A little about the upcoming
Las Vegas Teachers Convention appearance (inclusing an obviously "Photo Shopped"
pic) of the now closed Plaza Hotel where the meeting will allegedly be held.

I read 12 issues of this newsletter and found ONE vague reference
to a school that had actually been helped.
And a photo with kids holding
up signs saying "Thanks for the VFO".
Wow, how generous.

Judging by the hair/clothing styles of those teenagers...those pics are from the mid-to-late 90's.

This thread started May.21 and in all his News Letters as of January it was only June did he post at least one pic of a class room in Ham session. Then a few others in a July News Letter. I think I mentioned and maybe others before "where were photos of kids in class shown"?

Think he's reading this thread? Sure he is!

Most importantly still remains is like you mentioned....there's only one photo showing a thank you for a old vintage VFO. Where are all the others?

I'm sure maybe now some more will pop up!

For a site supposed to be dedicated to children education and Ham gear donated to them there sure is a lot of other stuff that should be on a personal Ham site. People just love to show up on someone elses web site cause it makes them feel popular and part of the self proclaimed elite "22crew". Guess that's one way to get a following. If you listen in you even have operators trying to act as arrogant and obnoxious as JKJ when clearly they wouldn't on a normal basis.

22 crew? Sounds like a High School who are the cool kids club. Agh!

I don't know guys! If you don't see the wool being pulled over you guys and still donate without demands that proof be given by now shame on you.

Take a look at the computer! There's absolutely no way that picture is even current within 11 years. That's like an old Apple computer with the old green monitor and that's in a News Letter dated June. 5, 2011. Hah!

What a bunch of bull!!!!

And I find it interesting that the school club that that vintage
VFO was "donated" to was a private religious school in a very upscale area.
(Coral Gables, FL)
I don't have the specific tuition for that particular school,
but private schools ain't cheap.
Certainly there are more pressing needs in public schools?

I will have to dig back and see if I can find and post the taunting and threatening e-mails that he sent to me after selling me the "mint" radio on ebay. All I wanted was to return the broken radio that I received. After all he was given the radio in the first place.

I see he is still selling all his goodies on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150651291464&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123

I guess this isn't going into a school station...probably going into his pocket instead.
