For owners and fans of the MKARS80 75m SSB QRP kit,
here is a site which lists some excellent and useful mods.
The mod descriptions include schematics, photos,PC board layouts, parts lists & vendors.
http://pa0rcl.com/PA0RCL/MKARS80.html

Mods detailed include:
Varactor Tuning:
Replaces one turn polyvaricon with ten turn pot, improved ease of tuning & accuracy.
AGC:
Very simple audio derived circuit prevents being "blasted" by very strong signals.
"Band Switching":
Stock MKARS covers 300 KHz. This mod divides that into three separate sections of 100 KHz
for easier tuning, especially when combined with varactor.ten turn pot tuning mod. Very nice.

40 Watt Amplifier for Unit, using inexpensive power MOSFETS:

Site for sales & info of MAKRS80 kit is here:
http://www.radio-kits.co.uk/

I've only performed the Varactor Tuning Mod and the AGC Mod,
am going to go with those for now. Oh yeah, radiokits.co.uk is now offering
a CW Adapter & Keyer kit for this rig. only 28 UK Pounds.
