Is there any known ways to connect my verizon droid x to my tm-d700 and use it as a gps receiver in order to transmit my current position in aprs.  This would certainly be more helpful then buying a seperate GPS...it would be cool though...and BTW I did see the app aprsdroid but I am not going to pay for it...thanks

According the APRSdroid web site http://aprsdroid.org/, the app is open source and donate if you want to.  But it's $4.29 in the Market.   If you don't want to pay, download the source and build it yourself.  But really, $4.29 is almost free.

I saw apps in the Market that will sent NMEA data over Bluetooth.  If you can connect a Bluetooth to the TM-D700, maybe that will work?  One of the is called Bluetooth GPS   https://market.android.com/details?id=googoo.android.btgps&feature=search_result

No Droid phone here yet, I'm eligible for an upgrade discount next week.  Drooling over the Droid 3 right now :-)

Yeah, $4.29 certainly isn't unreasonable.

The above claims to expose your built-in GPS as a blue-tooth GPS.

To use with the Kenwood, you would need a BT serial adapter that you can pair with the phone (to the "BT GPS") and have it dump out the serial data to the radio.

This would get you GPS data into the radio, but likely wouldn't accept position reports coming in from the radio and displaying on the screen of the Droid.
