Hi,

I'm using K9LU's Bulldog iambic key with my IC-718. It needs a larger adapter (Lou will include one in your keyer order for an extra buck) and it just plugs right into the back of the radio. I have set my CW to semi-break in mode through the menu options on the radio, and it works well. I don't know if you want an iambic or straight keyer, but this is my first keyer and it seems to work well for what it is. The IC-718 is a wonderful radio. I'm having a lot of fun with mine.

Good luck... Jackie

Any set of paddles will do.  I've used the built in keyer, and it works well.  Just put a 1/4 inch plug on the end of the paddles to the rig, and set it for either semi or full break in, and adjust the speed of the keyer from the menu. If you want to use a bug, straight key or keyboard or computer with the 718 (I've used them all) turn the keyer off.
