I had just checked my LOTW DXCC status yesterday and the Austral Islands were NOT in the LOTW confirmed list, though I have it confirmed on paper.   Then this morning the QSO count and the countries count were both one higher.  The one that just came in was with FO/DL1IAN in 2003.  :-)  That was a nice surprise, getting one from that long ago.

Also, I deleted two contacts from C5 from my log a few weeks ago; both of them had replied "not in log."  But when I was checking yesterday, one of the C5 contacts WAS confirmed in LOTW.  :-)  Another nice surprise!

Hi,

I really enjoy the LoTW surprise QSL's months or years after the contact - long after giving up on it.  Even better when it helps you fill a requirement for an award.  I wrote an article on Hunting LoTW Stations on my website nj2x.com in case you are interested.

My best LoTW surprise so far came this summer when I got a confirmation for Somalia, T5W, just about a decade after I worked it.

I just got a confirmation in LOTW for a YB station from 2003.  :-)   I have a few confirmations in LOTW that go all the way back to 1992.  (Glad I put my paper logs into the database when I went to PC logging.)

I've been eligible for DXCC since the early 90s, but I never bothered applying for DXCC--until I hit 100 in LOTW.  Applying via LOTW was extremely fast and easy.  (Of course, now I still need to pull out about 80-90 countries on paper cards and send them in.)  :-)
