10 meter magmount antenna

Hello,
I am using a Wilson 11 meter magmount antenna for my 706 right now. I cut the Antenna for 28.400 and the antenna works good at 28.400 but if i go up to 29.400 the SWR is way to high if not off the radios scale. Does anybody know a good 10 meter magmount antenna that will have a low SWR for the whole 10 meter band?

Not likely the way you tuned it.  You are asking a lot of it If you want it to work at 29.4 I suggest you cut it for say 28.8 or so and find a sweet spot. BTW, I would not have cut it for 28.4 in first place for a mobile I would have started higher even cut to 28.6 or higher it will work well at 28.4

I understand your limitations but a 10 meter stick is not that narrow that you need to center it at 28.400. I would center it at 28.6 or higher. Point is it will still be pretty flat were you you can use it now and when you upgrade ticket the is a LOT of 10m activity above 28.5 when band is open. It can be busy up to 28.8 and more at times. Not sure why you are concerned about 29.4 now though. BTW, SWR up to 2 to 1 or so at edges of bandwidth on a mobile antenna is not a big deal

The Wilson 11 meter magmount antenna is not full ¼ wave, so the band width is not as good compared to the old 102 inch/ modified .  What I have done in the past is tune @ about 28.700. Then get a strong alligator
clip with about 2 inches of wire attached to it. You will clip it on to the stinger/ whip to lower the operating frequency when you need to. Rule # 1 short antennas have less band width than long ones. Just a quick fix
for a short antenna.
