Hi all,
I am in the process of putting together a AM station. Flex 5K > HF Amp > Heathkit Tuner. I have one question & a problem I need help solving. First, the question: I believe there are some minor differences between the 2060 and the 2060A, can anyone describe the differences? I only have the manual for the 2060.

The problem: I made copies of the logging scale page from the manual and hooked up my Kuranishi BR-200 SWR analyzer to the tuner. I found the readings close to those on the preset chart. I also found that tapping on the tuners internal components (variable caps & roller inductor) sent the SWR sky high. Not a good thing running a pair of 3CX800A7's. I found the same thing, to a lesser extent with the 2060A.

The interior of both tuners are almost pristine, not a hint of corrosion anywhere. I cleaned off all the crusty old grease & relubed everything. I looked, but could not find, any loose connections, screws, nuts, etc.

Tried using different coax cables, 2 different antennas and even a Bird Dummy Load on Coax 1 & 2 on both tuners. I'm stumped. Short of taking apart the 2 air variables & Roller Inductor & reassembling them................anyone have any ideas where to start with this problem?? All opinions welcome!
