I'm using the N3fjp program and I have a 450D I'm trying to hook the program up to my Yeasu 450D to read the frequencies of the radio

I'm using a 9 pin serial cable,to USB  with a gender changer  with no luck   the program says not responding and when I try com 5 I get a message com 5 in use

How do I set it up do I go through rig interface?  or dose the program support the 450D

When using a gender changer to go from a nine pin serial cable to USB, you've got to make sure you've got a quality gender changer and not just a cheap adapter.  All too many of the so called gender changers are nothing more than cheap line adapters with no internal electronics to properly mate the two different types of connectors.

The best thing to do is to ask Yaesu tech support about how to do it.  Chances are they have an answer for you--or a recommendation on the type connector you need.
