Hi Jack....or should I say Jacques? Smiley

Looks like you beat me by 8 years.  Never got to Evreux.  Phalsbourg   is on E4 between Paris and (about 1 hr west of) Strasbourg.  Used to  get into Paris 3-4 times a year.  Took the train  to Nancy, and caught rides to Strasbourg  on a weekly basis.  Phalsbourg was a very small farming community, and the base was a DOB base, minimally staffed but ready for a couple squadrons in the event of anoth Berlin Crisis.  I worked in AGE/aircraft maintenance.....at a base that had no aircraft.  Tough duty!

In Paris I usually stayed at a small hotel one block off the Champs Elysees at the Arc de Triomphe, for $1.25 a night.  Ahh the good old days! Smiley

Hello ex-F7AM!.   I  arrived in Phalsbourg in July '65 and remained there until March '67.  I chose to stay on and was the 7th remaining when I    was transferred to Wheelus in March of that year.  After getting kicked out of France by DeGaulle, I   was in Tripoli Libya less than 3 months when the June 67 Arab-Israeli War broke out.   I finished up my 4 years at Travis AFB CA ( Nov '67-Sep '68)

Good times.!

Did you get to Paris?

I operated from the Wheelus club station 61-62 a few times while floating around the Med in the USN.

In 60 I was on the other end at K0NAB, NAS Olathe KS club station, running AM phone patches with Wheelus. When the SSB QRMers started up they would kick in the BIG final. They used a big rhombic, we had a 20M 6el Telrex at 90' and about a KW input and Cycle 19 was still potent.
