Two nights ago I was perusing the web and admiring the Zero Five 43' multi-band.  Unfortunately I need a rather long coax run, longer than what they specify.  About 2300 hours local I fire off an email to Tom.  Ten minutes later I see a reply on the screen.  Almost didn't open it, figuring it was one of those "out of office" replies.  Open it I did, and there is Tom asking for additional information.  I answered his question and asked why in the world was he up so late.  He replied that he was on 40 meters.  Apparently this guy actually has hands on an amateur radio, not a CEO with a picture of one on his wall.

In any event, that kind of response merits my support and business.  Once I get the details sorted out Tom will be getting my order.  I suggest that you won't find a better product, or a better person to do business with than Tom.  I'm very impressed.

I have been trying to get Tom to call me back for about six months about a flag pole antenna for my radio club's station. He was helpful at first, then quit returning emails or phone calls.

He's always answered my emails.  So far, I haven't found a solution to the problem I'm having but he's always answered questions and offered suggestions.

I want to weigh in here...I did MONTHS of research before purchasing from Zero-Five.  A dozen emails and three phone calls with Tom.  Never pushed me, but worked with me to help me reach the right conclusion about my purchase.  He was definitely more interested in making sure I got what I needed and not what he wanted to sell me.

Thanks, Tom.  You have enhanced my hobby immensely.

Before buying an aluminum stick?

Tom's products aren't cheap but he deserves every cent he charges and more. We need to thank heaven anyone is still selling to hams.

43' verticals are almost invisible compared with the costly tower-mounted Hy tower. AFAIK the only significant advantage of the Hytower is on 80 and it doesn't cover the whole band without a tuner. The 43 footers often require no concrete or guys, and work all the way up to six meters to some degree, including WARC, MARS and 60 meters.

My DXE 43 footer is fairly effective even on ten meters. I put up an inverted V at 40 feet to compare it to.

I'm guessing that many hams wouldn't need a construction permit with the thin 43 footers.  If you want better performance on 80 and 160, use a base tuner.

The best vertical ever made?  What evidence do you have to support that?  Do you have test results performed by a reputable lab comparing all the verticals out there that we're not aware of?  Unless you do, I think your statement is somewhat subjective.
