My D710a is beaconing on time etc, but the raw packets are messed up...and I can't seem to figure out how to silence the outbound beacon audio (receive has ctcss 100mhz & voice alert on) no beeps on but yet every beacon outbound causes a digital audio sound over the speaker for the A band (apre is operating on A band) and my beacon raw packets look like this :

I'm not sure why you are unable to mute your outgoing audio. Your beacon contents look fine if you are sending compressed position packets.

With some help from some substantially more knowledgeable hams, it turned out that the issue was not an issue at all,  the packet bursts are supposed to occur to alert you of a voice alert, the name "Voice Alert" is a bit deceiving but it causes a packet burst over your speaker when you receive a voice alert, if your beacon is set to transmit voice alert and your memory is set to CTCSS 100hz you will get an echo from another digipeater when your beacon transmits...all normal operation. I just assumed I was having a problem because the kenwood manuals don't say anything about the packet burst, I ASSUMED Voice alert and aprs voice would work together and I would get a verbal callsign over the speaker instead of a packet burst.....

The garbled packets are different issue with the local igate running older software and omitting non-printable characters when posting it to the internet which results in badly formed string which results in an invalid character/symbol error. Turns out my strings outbound are fine, but the igate is mangling them on occasion.
