Rigblaster Advantage Problems

Just got a RigBlaster Advantage today.  However, when I plug the USB cable in the laptop, I can no longer receive anything other than static.  Any thoughts?

Have you installed the drivers for the sound card
that is onboard the RigBlaster Advantage? These can
be found on the CD that was shipped with it.

You will also have to go into Windows Control Panel
and find out which Com Port your system has assigned
it before you can use it with any sound card software.
(MMTTY, Digipan, FlDigi, MixWin, etc)

The instructions are very detailed and well illustrated.
I would read them all the way through before starting.
Not everything is "Plug & Play".

Which is not particularly surprising if you don't go
into Windows Control Panel (as described in the manual)
and tell Windows to use THAT sound card (inside the advantage)
when using digital sound card programs...instead of
the default onboard sound card.

This is clearly described in the outstanding manual.

Also, we need more information on your rig,
Computer's OS, how you are driving it with the Advantage (through the Mic or the DIN connection) do you have the
jumpers inside the Advantage setup, etc, etc.
What software are you trying to operate, etc.

Also, have you spoken to West Mountain Radio about this?
They are very helpful guys, or have been to me
in the past.

No, It is not a software issue, what I am talking about is actual interference with the reception on the rig itself, not with the computer. 

I believe I have a grounding issue and WMR seems to think the same, but I don't know how to fix it because I am on the 2nd floor of an apartment building using an Endfed Random Wire Antenna.

Thoughts?

I can easily see how a second floor shack
grounding issue would effect the received
audio or waterfall display...but only on transmit.
Very curious, but you are in good hands with WMR.

WMR is stumped.. I don't know what to do, I tried ferrite beads on the usb cable, and I tried a longer cable to get the laptop away from the rig, nothing works.  This is discouraging....
