I had been looking for a new Icom 7700 (Rev. 12 , manufactured in 2011) mainly due to the PA failures in older models and the Rev. 12 has some PA changes, but not one store in the USA had any new 7700's , not even in Canada. But Steve at HRO VA was able to obtain a rev 12 7700 for me straight from Icom Japan! Steve went way above and beyond the call of duty here to get this done for me. So a brand new rev 12 7700 is on my desk, the first one in North America...! I have never experienced customer service like this, when all other stores said "too bad", Steve went that extra mile...thanks Steve ( and Karen , too ) !!

I'm a non-Ham, just a radio lover and collector. I've had the same 'extra mile' experiences with HRO in Woodbridge, VA. There were never too many questions that I could ask. The folks I've spoken with seem to enjoy talking about the radios. I've always appreciated that.

HRO In Virginia is very, very good.  I have never been ignored or treated anything less than nicely when I have been in there.  I keep shopping there for that reason.

Speaking of Steve---recently, like a couple days ago-- after I returned a radio I didn't like wanting a different model--- The salesman was, it seemed leery, to make a decision on whether to surcharge me a restocking fee and applying it to the other higher end model. After several calls and days later I gave up and asked for Steve. The result was INSTANT friendly and courteous first rate service with a big-- Thank You For Your Business, and we will be shipping you the other radio today with NO surcharge. THAT, is why I keep going back to HRO in VA or everywhere they are. They will work with you. HRO is number one for a reason.

I needed a Ventenna product ASAP in order for plumbers to install it in a house I'm building. HRO VA got the webpage order and called quickly to verify shipping. The person who called me was most customer-centered and shipped it quicker than I paid for to ensure it made it in tine. It wasn't a $10k transceiver or anything, just a $100+ purchase. Bravo HRO VA!

HRO-Woodbridge and Steve Gilmore specifically have to be scaring the bejeebers out of some slacker businesses out there.  I love it.

After reading this thread I decided to pull the trigger on a 7600 and because of what I read in this thread I contacted Steve directly.
All I can say is that HRO should give this guy a raise Grin Excellent service by Steve, he listened to what I had to say, he decided to handle the order himself and check everything before he shipped it out. (I wanted a radio that has very recent serial number with current firmware)
Steve the only thing that would have made this better was if you had thrown in that RA-BS1 software disk Grin  oh well I guess even superman has to work within the limitations.

I also had the same good experience with Steve at HRO Woodbridge Va.  After purchasing a Kenwood TS 2000 and using it for 24 hours it developed a problem, took it back to Steve and  had an instant no questions asked exchange.
Steve was also a lot of help on my Yaesu 897/little tarheel 2 mobile setup components.
We could certainly use more people like Steve .  He gets all my business!     W4GMF

I got my 7600 two weeks ago but on inspection both the Boxes took a bit of a beating so I was not very happy about that and the thought of hidden damage to the Radio.  On very close inspection everything looked fine and worked fine with the rig but I was really in the frame of mind at that point to just send it back.  I talked to Steve and he offered me an extended warranty to ease my mind.  After mulling it over I asked him if I could get the Boxes replaced and he said that was a No Go because he could not get any replacements from Icom.  I decided to take the up the offer of an extended warranty but the box issue did not sit well with me.

Eventually on advice from another Ham I called Janet at HRO CA and explained the situation, she asked me for Photo's and I sent them and she forwarded them to Icom. I got an email back a few days later and she said Icom had secured a set of boxes and would ship them out Smiley  My Hat goes out to Janet, she was wonderful to deal with and extremely helpful, not sure how HRO finds such great people but my but they do, so HRO gets my money everytime.

What I have been fortunate enough to buy new.... I've bought at HRO, VA.  I have never been disappointed.  They're the first ones I call.

Once again HRO-VA excels. The Palstar AT2K tuner arrived with no above-normal scuffing on the box, all packing where it should be. The tuner itself had a very notable dent on the forward lip of the cover. Anyone familiar with Palstar's tuners knows they're not thin cheap sheet metal; to make such a dent the cover had to really get whacked. The tuner was checked out and put through paces & works great. (This is a testament to the build quality of Palstar's stuff; cover probably had dent when screwed on the tuner itself but tuner's great.)

I mentioned to Steve that I didn't really want to get in the cycle of RMAs for a dent and needed the tuner anyway due to amplifier coming. If nothing could be done I said I'd just accept the "character mark" and drive on. Steve said he would "get on the blower" with Palstar and yesterday a new cover showed up. 5 minute job. What a joy to remove/install a replacement "anything" these days where the machining is consistent one to the next.

HRO-VA continues to be a benchmark of excellence; they are their own toughest act to follow. 5-stars

All the folks at HRO VA are top flight.  I know Steve Gilmore personally and he always goes the extra mile.
