I was surprised to see that I need this one on 3 bands (6, 10 and 160). I thought I'd swept them years ago. They should be dirt-easy on 160 to me but much harder on 10, due to distance. Six is a different animal -- who knows how it'll be playing when they're QRV!

I caught CY0X on six back in July 2008.  That was a lucky one.  CY0/CY9 are tough because of how close they are Smiley

So dumb question... Why are the Canadian islands of Sable and St. Paul separate DXCC entities? Are they grandfathered? They don't seem to satisfy the requirements (350km from mainland), unless I'm missing something.

Yup. Grandfathered. Neither would meet the criteria today, I don't think.

That CY0X 6m operation was pretty impressive. One of only four 6m contacts back then, using my HF yagi and a tuner! I have five elements on 6m now, up about 25-30' so we'll see what happens with St. Paul, I suppose. If the band is open it shouldn't be overly difficult. 10m may be much harder. When I worked Sable on 10 last year the openings to NJ were few, short and weak.

Yep, I even worked CY0X on 6 meters CW using a mini tri-bander and tuner from S.C.   Gene

CY0X is 1 of my 2 confirmed countries on 6 meters (the other one is the US  Grin). I was running an ICOM 703 into a windom at the time. My K2 doesn't have 6 meters  Sad  so I am thinking about best and cheapest route to go. There's always the XV50 transverter I guess, but that's 400 bucks by itself.

Anyway - CY0X was fun to work as the first 6m DX for me.
