JT65 HF to Hawaii

I live in NY State. What would be the best band to use and time to have the best chance for a contact to Hawaii? Im using a off center fed diopole up 40 feet oriented north to south.

Well, last night I saw HI active on 40m in JT65...around 0500 UTC.

Watch for KH6SAT, Rick. He is active on JT65. I have worked him on 80,40,40 and 10 meters with dipoles that are not as high as your antenna is.

Plus there is not much distance difference between your QTH and mine, so you should be able to work HI on 40,20,15 or 10 meters. Don't discount the WARC bands either.

Early morning is a good time to catch HI on 40 meters.

10 and 15 meter bands are very active lately, early during the day, later on at night try lower bands, they work very well too!

I would say an all daylight path on 17-15-12 meters. I'm not sure if 10 is good enough right now. The K is pretty high at this moment.

I've work many NY stations JT65 via 12-20m when I get home form work, 0330 UTC.  During the day, 10-30m has been good (1200 noon to about 0830 pm your time).  Email me at kh6dc@arrl.net if you want to set up a sked.

I found that between 1800-0000 TUC on 15m has been excellent working staions from Florida to Maine and Vermont.
