Icom 706 MKIIG interface to iMic/iPad

I've ordered the iMic to hook to my iPad USB port (through the camera interface).

I'm still struggling how to interface my '706 to the iMic.  Anyone done this?

I am guessing since I never got a reply to your query or you never saw my reply.
Here it is again. Also have you called Tigertronics to ask them about either using the SL!+ or the SL USB?

         Right now it is a chilly 48F here in the North Bay. I am glad you clarified the info on the iMic. I had pulled up the Specs both on the iPad and iMic and was confused over the USB issue. The Pic of the iMic I see shows a USB type plug:

Being a X-CompUSA PC Tech for 9yrs I grew to love and hate MACs. The only good MAC is the Micky D's Big MAC.(LOL) OK now lets get serious.
Well I was hoping the iMic had a USB Port that you could plug in another USB device.
Anyway if you do a search on YouTube for iPad psk31 you will get some hits.

I think the biggest issue is keying the Radio. You want to use the 6pin DataPort on the 706. Since the iPad does not have a USB or RS-232 Ports for PTTing the Radio some form of Vox is needed.  Check out this link:

Hi Steve,

Thanks for responding again....I did get your note.  Thanks for the references...they were useful.  I have put this project off (obviously) and got fired up again to try it. 
I did not contact Tigertronics because I wanted to follow the article in QST by Steve Ford.  I got a good price on the iMic and have other plans for it too.
I'm down to ordering the 13 pin cable and tapping the pigtail end for my I/O.  I was hoping to hook up with someone else that tried this with a '706.

Good hearing from you....still up for a chat on 80 some evening?  Drop me a note and we can try it.

Thank you for your email.  Regarding your question about the SignaLink and Apple iPad, the easiest way to connect the ipad to the SignaLink
SL-1+ would be to use both Apple's Camera Kit adapter and iMic adapter.
  The Camera adapter gives you a USB port on the iPad and then the iMic adapter plugs into that and gives you two separate 3.5mm jacks for audio in and out. You then connect the SignaLink's Computer-Mic and Computer-SPKR jacks to the iMac's Audio In/Out jacks.

If you want to use the SignaLink USB with the iPad, then you would plug a powered USB hub into the above mentioned Camera Adapter's USB port, and then plug the SignaLink USB into that.  Note that the USB hub MUST be powered as the iPad can't provide enough current for the SignaLink USB itself.  Please let us know if you have any further questions.
