Well, if you have the manual and have read it, you'd note:

Page 12, Figure 3.2, Item #4 is the bias adjust control.
Page 16, Figure 4.7 and Para. 4.3 (Step 4) tells how to adjust it.

You cannot have "0" Ip on transmit in SSB and expect the transmitter to actually function properly.

Thanks - yes, you're right.  It only drops to 0 when in the meter is in ALC position.  In the IP position it is at 60 when transmitting, so I think that much is working correctly.

Answered 2 calls last night with good signal strength reported on the other ends! I guess everything is working correctly - probably still need some fine-tuning. Heard more "nets" than anything else that I couldn't really join in on...need to read up on how these work. Thanks for the guidance here!

I had a radio like this and now use a Ts-820's.

I had to figure some things out and here were a few. Not saying you haven't checked these things but:

Is the mic gain turned up?
Are you sure that the mic works and isn't locked out of push to talk if that is where you want to be?
As already stated, be sure you heat the finals for at least 15 min.
