I am looking for some MRF150, BLF278, or similar RF mosfets for an amplifier. There are a lot of them for sale on EBay but they are all from China, and buying from these sources seems to me about on par with looking for a good source of used condoms. I would like to hear about actual experiences from buyers who have taken the chance and tried them.

I have had mixed luck with pulls, and very little with claimed NEW parts....

There are a couple of sellers doing pulls from telecomms that can be a good source of minicircuits stuff and things like switched attenuators and OCXOs, but for sand you pays your money and takes your chances.

Better just to stump up for the parts from Mouser or RF Parts or whoever.
Particularly if developing something new, you can waste a huge amount of time trying to get parts that are faulty or fail to meet spec to work.

Regards, Dan.

Try AVNET they have pretty good prices for MRF's.

I have replaced my MRF-150's in the mobile amplifier with VRF-150's. I found them much more rugged and the bias setting is much softer.

I have 6 MRF-151s I'll sell.  They're NOS.  If interested leave me a message here on eHam.com for more information.

I have purchased 8 MRF150's from this seller on Ebay with good results.  One was bad and they quickly replaced it.  They come from China and take about a week to get.

The VRF151 is also a replacement for the MRF150, but with a higher drain to gate voltage rating.  They are available on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Microsemi-VRF151-N-Channel-RF-Power-Transistor-FET-Replaces-MRF151-MRF150-/250985484698?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6fe6919a
