Regarding the review of Flowcode 4 posted on September the 6th, please allow us to address some issues that are quite incorrect, as we feel this reflects negatively on what we, and our wide ranging user-base, consider to be an excellent product.price = $500
we have multiple versions for hobbyists, none of which are priced at $500:
free = £0.00, available to try yourself here: http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/flowcode.php
home = £49 (approx $78)
pro = £199 (approx $315)
(these are current V5 prices; the review was for V4, which was cheaper at £39 and £149 respectively“This software has no potential to let you get past the very basics.”
Flowcode is used in educational, hobbyist and professional environments and has been used as a tool in wide ranging environments such the automotive industry, for communications, setting up complex lighting displays and even for games! Flowcode 5 has a powerful and rich syntax allowing novice users to easily get to grips with the product yet allowing experienced programmers to perform any task they would be able to perform directly in embedded C. “documentation and help file almost non existent”
The help file is quite big – we estimate over 20,000 words
We have a free online course “Introduction to Microcontrollers” available at this link: http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/resources/getresource.php?id=582
Our Learning Centre has approximately 550 resources, many of which are Flowcode related, located here: http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/lc_index.php “very little support on the web page”
Much of our resources are web based, and we hope this is evident to the casual browser. We have an active support system through a forum and direct contact with engineers for anyone who would experience problems or just need pointers with our hardware and software. “the user community and support board is totally dead”
Our online community has many hobbyists, teachers and professionals and our members range from novices to experts in hardware and software. Any posts querying the use of our product are dealt with as a priority by our staff so as to maintain the highest quality product we can. “the web page wants to charge you for lessons on how to use the product”
There are no charges, hidden or otherwise to learn or trial the Flowcode product. Our free version is as it sounds, 100% free, as are the online courses and videos. If this is not to some ones liking there are many examples and hints on our active forum with regard to using Flowcode, and we publish articles on programming techniques, hardware setup and Flowcode hints.
We hope this clears up some of the untrue accusations leveled at our product, and ask that if you are unsure, please try it for free yourselves at the link above!
